On this page you will find information on neurofeedback (or EEG-biofeedback) and the procedure for neurofeedback therapy.
Neurofeedback Under accompaniment of neurofeedback experts (healthcare psychologists; biological psychologists) you will train your brain activity during individual sessions. During a treatment you sit in an easy chair in front of a computer screen. To register the brain activity (EEG - brain waves) a number of electrodes are applied on your head. The therapist follows this brain activity on his/her display device and accompanies you during the neurofeedback session. On your own display device you will see representations of your brain activity in sound and vision( movies; games): the neurofeedback. The moment you reach the correct brain activity, you get as it were a reward. For this you you do not need to do anything (this means: you do not use keyboard or mouse). The brain is modulated by the neurofeedback and in this way is trained to reach the desired activity. You stimulate inadvertently the selfregulating capacity of the brain.
For who?
The following complaints can be treated with neurofeedback: epilepsy, ADHD/ADD, fear, burnout, (posttraumatic) stress, sleep impairments, fatigue, migraine, chronic pain, brain lesion (for example after CVD), dyslexie, depression, hyperactivity, concentrations problem, learning problems and autism/PDD-NOS. A therapist maps the complaints by means of a thorough initial interview of 3.5 hour in our neurophysiology lab in Nijmegen (QEEG research). On this basis we develop a specific treatment plan. The neurofeedback therapy exists from 15 up to 40 sessions, depending on of the seriousness of the complaints. In epilepsy, it has been proven that in 60-70 per cent of the cases neurofeedback has a positive impact (after treatment 5 per cent is free of complaints and once more 50 per cent have a strongly reduced complaint pattern). Neurofeedback is suitable for both children and adults.
Specific target groups This concerns (top)sports and (higher) management, where people must perform mentally optimal (peak performance). It has been proven that neurofeedback can lead to better performance.
